Additional Teacher Housing

Traveling between the town and village in Uganda is a significant challenge. Our teachers rely on boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) for transportation, which can be both costly and unreliable, especially during rain.

To support our dedicated educators, we provide essential housing. Each home is a clean, two-room structure complete with a bathroom (featuring a tiled shower) and access to communal outdoor toilets. This setup not only offers shelter but also fosters a strong sense of community among our teachers.

Each home costs approximately $2,500 to build, focusing on quality construction. While it may seem simple compared to American standards, these homes represent a significant upgrade and a vital support system for our teachers in Uganda.

We are deeply grateful to our partners for their generosity in helping us provide these homes, which create a healthy and encouraging work environment for our passionate teachers.

With all ten of our initial teacher homes now occupied, we are excited to announce the construction of six additional homes to accommodate our growing classes. Two of these new homes will be immediately occupied by our new baby class teacher, Barbara, and Madam Teddy, our dedicated sewing teacher, making a profound difference in their lives.

We invite you to join our inspiring campaign for the final homes. For just a one-time donation of $10, you can be part of this transformative effort—an investment that costs less than two loaves of bread but creates a lasting impact. Together, we can make a real difference. Will you join us?

Donate a Dress

SEEN | KNOWN | LOVED

Our Donate a Dress Program generates incredible impact as we partner together to see a village go from barely surviving to thriving. Each dress donated provides so many levels of blessing and encouragement.

First, our sewers in Kijjude get to design a dress for a girl or woman in the village that would be blessed by receiving a new dress made just for them. There are many heart wrenching stories of struggle in this beloved village.  Our sewers pick a girl or woman who could use some encouragement and she designs and sews a dress with them in mind.  They pray and joyfully smile with every stitch. Who doesn’t get excited to surprise someone with a blessing! Our sewers get paid for their excellent quality work. This helps them to sustain themselves and care for their children.

From there the woman who sewed the dress gets to invite the girl/woman to the sewing school to receive her gift.  Not only does she get to proudly twirl and dance in her new dress, but she hears how much she is loved by Jesus. Pictures are taken and songs are sung.  The gospel is shared, and she is prayed for and loved. Truly it is love in action.

Your $20 not only pays our ladies to sew the dress, but it also covers the cost of materials to make the dress.  You will receive a picture of this precious moment captured. The remaining money will go to Sunbeams Uganda to continue to bless this precious village through current or future projects. You can be confident that our women are paid well for their work.  All remaining funds Sunbeams Uganda will use to help fund current and future projects in the village of Kijjude.  Sunbeams Uganda is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax deductible in accordance with the law.

ENCOURAGE | EQUIP | EMPOWER

Sewing empowers women

Our Sewing Project is doing better than we could have imagined!

From the Opening of Sunbeams Fashion and Design, our sewing program will be self-sustaining. They have come so far and we want to continue to grow our program. We are currently taking steps to have our sewing program be a certified program that our women will graduate from.

We do not charge the women to come to Sunbeams Fashion and Design to get training. We train them to sew and design and their products sold help to sustain them. We are passionate about restoring dignity and these women are seeing what can happen when you work hard and have high standards.

Madaam Teddy, our sewing teacher, is loved by the ladies and she is not only teaching them to sew, she is also encouraging healthy community, discipleship, and sharing the gospel. We are so blessed to have Madaam Teddy take on this important role of teaching ladies to sew clothes and seeds of faith.

Women, like Rose, are going from despair to thriving joyful leaders as they are blessing their village through our DONATE A DRESS PROGRAM.
